Terms of Service
1. Acceptance
By creating an account or using Cairn, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. These terms form a binding agreement between you and Cairn, operated by Arjuna Velayudam.
2. What Cairn does
Cairn is an AI career intelligence platform. You can upload career materials, build a visual map of career possibilities, track job opportunities, and generate drafts of interview prep, resumes, cover letters, and related content.
Cairn uses third-party AI (Claude, by Anthropic) to produce this content. The output is a starting point, not a guarantee. It is not legal, medical, financial, or professional career advice.
3. Your account
- You are responsible for keeping your login credentials safe.
- You are responsible for everything that happens under your account.
- One account per person. Do not share accounts.
- You must be at least 16 years old to use Cairn.
If you think your account has been compromised, email velayudamarjuna@gmail.com.
4. Acceptable use
Do not use Cairn to:
- Upload content you do not have the right to upload.
- Generate content intended to harass, defraud, or impersonate another person.
- Reverse-engineer, resell, or redistribute the service.
- Circumvent security controls or access data belonging to other users.
- Submit content designed to jailbreak, abuse, or otherwise misuse the underlying AI models.
- Violate applicable law.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that appear to violate these rules.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of the content you upload or create in Cairn. By using the service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, transmit, and display your content for the purpose of providing the service to you — including sending it to Anthropic's Claude API so we can generate the output you asked for.
You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of what you upload. Do not upload other people's confidential information.
6. AI-generated content
Cairn generates text using large language models. You should treat that output as a starting draft, not a final product.
- The output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date.
- The output may include judgments that do not apply to your specific situation.
- Cairn does not provide legal, medical, financial, tax, or licensed professional advice.
- Do not submit generated resumes, cover letters, or interview answers without reviewing them for accuracy.
- You are responsible for how you use anything Cairn produces.
7. Third-party services
Cairn depends on Clerk (authentication), Anthropic (Claude API), and Railway (hosting). Their terms and policies govern the parts of the service they provide. We do not control those providers and are not responsible for their availability or their handling of data.
8. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from the profile page. Your content is deleted per the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if operating the service for you is no longer feasible. We will make a reasonable effort to notify you first.
We may also discontinue Cairn entirely. If that happens, we will give you a reasonable window to export your data.
9. Disclaimers
Cairn is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a specific purpose. We disclaim all warranties to the maximum extent permitted by law.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cairn and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any direct damages is capped at the greater of what you paid Cairn in the prior 12 months or one hundred U.S. dollars.
This cap does not apply where prohibited by law.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Cairn harmless from any claim arising out of your use of the service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of another party's rights.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Cairn evolves. If a change is material, we will update the effective date above and notify signed-in users through the app or email. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
